Why is Pushkar Mela/Fair Celebrated?
The Pushkar Fair, held annually in Rajasthan, India, celebrates Kartik Purnima, featuring cultural events and competitions for eight days. On the ninth day, devotees participate in religious rituals at the Brahma Temple, bathe in Pushkar Lake for spiritual purification, and attend a grand Maha Aarti.
The fair highlights Rajasthan's rich culture through folk performances, camel races, and vibrant bazaars, attracting visitors worldwide for its unique blend of spirituality and tradition.
It is believed that all 330 million Hindu Gods and Goddesses came to Pushkar Lake on the full moon night of the Karthik month to bless the devotees. Hence, pilgrims from across the world come to Pushkar every year and take a dip in the lake to commemorate the event.
